The Committee directed its legislative activity to improve state social standards and guarantees; social insurance system; to increase the level of social and working guarantees of citizens; labor relations; to adapt domestic legislation to international social norms and standards; etc.
Four laws elaborated by the Committee were adopted during the tenth session of the Verkhovna Rada.
Another four laws adopted by the Verkhovna Rada during the last plenary week have not being signed by the President of Ukraine yet.
Generally, the Committee has elaborated and prepared for the second reading around 100 bills. The draft Labor Code is being under preparation for the second reading.
Apart from the Labor Code, the Committee works upon the bills on mandatory social insurance, reforming training of regular labor force and professionals to ensure competitiveness of trade recourses on internal and external labor markets as well as bringing provisions of the Law "On Collective Agreements and Treaties" in line with modern legal norms.
The Committee held a visiting session in Chernihiv during the tenth session as well as a joint meeting with the Committee on Matters of Pensioners, Veterans and Disabled regarding the analysis of operation of the Fund for Social Protection of Disabled Persons.
The Committee held several round-table discussions in March and April.
Committee members considered operation of the Ministry on Social Policy regarding implementation of the Program of economic reforms for 2010 2014.
The Committee kept considering citizens? appeals during the work of the tenth session. The majority of such appeals pertained to the sphere of social protection of population, work and salary, implementation of citizens? rights and freedoms, etc.
The Committee addressed state bodies, scientific institutions and organizations, as well as parties of social dialogue during its work upon the bills. Several working groups were created to prepare the bills for the second reading.
